Part of the "Written by Trees" series, "prairie-scent, described" is a fifth generation of text written in collaboration with prairie plants and museum visitors at Word Weekend, an MCA event in summer 2014. Over the course of the weekend, visitors were invited to engage with an assemblage of native prairie plants in a process of reading, listening, translating, and transcribing. Using piezoelectric sensors to measure vibrations and custom software to code and decode, a series of poetry was generated and then dispersed with visitors on paper sown with naive prairie seeds.
